The Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists is a professional body established with the goal of promoting the advancement of Medical Microbiology in Sri Lanka. The parent organization of the College was the Ceylon Association of Microbiologists, which was founded in 1969 with 15 founder members. In 1974, the name of the Association was changed to the Sri Lanka Association of Microbiologists.

Eligibility Criteria :
- Successful at A Level
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Good organization capabilities
- Working knowledge of accounting
- IT Skills: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- This is a full-time post. Work experience in a similar capacity will be an added advantage.

At the beginning, it was named as The Ceylon Association of Microbiologists and later in 1974 its' name was changed as The Sri Lanka Association of Microbiologists. In 1979 it was re-changed as the Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists (SLCM) with a new constitution.
